Cyber security assessments for small businesses.
We assess the systems your business depends on: your website, authentication and OAuth, APIs, cloud infrastructure and AI tools. Every engagement delivers verified findings, prioritized remediation and a retest that confirms each fix.
Beyond Digital Labs designs and builds web applications, APIs, authentication systems and AI automations. Our security assessments apply that hands-on engineering experience to the systems small businesses rely on. You work directly with the engineer performing your assessment, findings are explained in clear business terms and only systems you have authorized in writing are tested.
Assessment areas
Each engagement is scoped to the systems you actually run. Select a single area or combine several into one assessment; the scope is fixed in writing before work begins.
Website security
External assessment of your public website and the services around it.
- TLS certificates, HTTPS enforcement and redirect configuration
- Security headers, including content security, transport security and framing policies
- Outdated platforms, plugins, themes and libraries with known vulnerabilities
- Exposed admin panels, staging pages, backups and sensitive files
- Input handling in contact forms, file uploads and search
- Email authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC) to prevent domain spoofing
- Third-party scripts, chat widgets and payment pages that could leak data or skim cards
- Registrar lock and multi-factor authentication on your domain account
Authentication and OAuth
Login, single sign-on and account recovery, where most account takeovers begin.
- OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect configuration: redirect URIs, PKCE, state and nonce validation
- Requested scopes limited to what each application requires
- Token storage, lifetime and revocation
- Password reset, email verification and account recovery flows
- Session cookies, sign-out and session handling after a password change
- Multi-factor authentication, account lockout and login rate limiting
API security
The APIs that connect your applications, customers and third-party services.
- Object-level authorization: whether one customer can access another customer’s records
- Authentication enforced on every endpoint
- Excessive data exposure in API responses
- Rate limiting and protection against automated abuse
- API keys exposed in website code, mobile apps or repositories
- Webhook signature verification and cross-origin (CORS) configuration
- Database access rules in applications built on Supabase, Firebase or AI coding tools
Cloud accounts and infrastructure
Configuration review for Cloudflare, Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
- Administrator access, including former staff and vendors
- Multi-factor authentication on owner and administrator accounts
- API token permissions, age and storage
- Storage buckets, databases and dashboards exposed to the internet
- Secrets in source code, environment files or chat history
- Logging, alerting, billing limits and verified backup restoration
AI security and guardrails
Chatbots, assistants and automations that can access your data or act on your behalf.
- Prompt injection from web pages, emails and documents
- Least-privilege access for every AI tool and integration
- Human approval before payments, outgoing messages or deletions
- Customer and business data leaking into responses or third-party model training
- Vendor data retention settings and staff AI usage policy
- Audit logs that record what the AI did and why
Security fundamentals
The policies and controls that prevent the most common incidents.
- Multi-factor authentication and a password manager across the team
- Separate administrator accounts and a documented offboarding process
- Business email compromise controls, including forwarding-rule checks and payment-change verification
- Patch management for computers, phones and network equipment
- Isolated, tested backups
- An inventory of vendors with access to your systems
- A concise incident response plan
A defined, authorized process
Every engagement follows the same documented methodology, aligned with NIST SP 800-115.
What you receive.
Documentation your leadership can use to make decisions and your technical team can use to fix issues.
- An executive summary of your overall risk in business terms
- A prioritized findings register with a severity rating for each issue
- Evidence and reproduction steps for every finding
- Step-by-step remediation guidance for your team or developer
- Retest results confirming which issues are resolved
- Recommended ongoing controls and a suggested date for the next review
How we handle your data
The same rules apply to client access and findings on every engagement.
Built on recognized frameworks.
Our methodology and findings map to these published standards. Referencing them does not imply certification by, or affiliation with, the organizations that publish them.
We hold our own website to the same standard. Its security measures are published here and checked on every build.
- OWASP Top 10:2025, for web application risks
- OWASP API Security Top 10 (2023), for APIs
- RFC 9700, Best Current Practice for OAuth 2.0 Security, for authentication and tokens
- OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications (2025), for AI features

If funds have been transferred, contact your bank immediately and request a recall. If you carry cyber insurance, notify your insurer's claims line before engaging any vendor; many policies require prompt notice and an approved response firm. Isolate affected devices from the network without wiping or reinstalling them. From a trusted device, change passwords and enable multi-factor authentication on email and banking. In the US, report the incident to the FBI at ic3.gov. Then contact us, and we will advise whether we can assist or refer you to a dedicated incident response firm.
Frequently asked questions
Are small businesses really targeted?
Yes. Most attacks are automated: tools continuously scan the internet for outdated software, exposed credentials, weak logins and misconfigured storage. Small businesses are affected because these gaps are common, not because they are singled out. An assessment finds them before attackers do.
How is an assessment priced?
Each engagement is quoted in writing based on the number of systems in scope and the depth of testing. The initial consultation is free, and no work is billed without your written approval.
Do you offer penetration testing?
Yes. Penetration testing is one of the methods we use. For many small businesses, combining it with a configuration and code review delivers more value than a simulated attack alone. We recommend the approach that fits your environment and explain why.
Will testing disrupt my website or systems?
Testing is designed to avoid disruption. High-load and destructive techniques are excluded unless separately authorized, work stays within an agreed window and both sides have an emergency stop contact. Where a staging environment exists, we test there first.
Will you need our passwords?
No. We request a dedicated account with the minimum access required, ideally read-only and time-limited. You remain in control and can revoke it at any time.
Can you help with PCI DSS, HIPAA or SOC 2?
Yes, with readiness. We map your current controls to the requirements, close the gaps and help prepare the evidence your assessor will request. The formal audit or assessment itself is performed by an accredited assessor.
Can you help with a cyber insurance application?
Yes. We help you interpret the questions, verify your answers against the actual state of your systems and close the gaps the application reveals. You and your broker remain responsible for the final submission.
Do you work with businesses outside Florida?
Yes. Assessments are performed remotely, so we work with businesses wherever their systems are hosted.
Request a security assessment
Describe your systems and what you would like assessed. We will follow up with scoping questions. No testing begins until scope and authorization are agreed in writing.
Every request is reviewed by a member of our team, usually within one working day. You can also email office@beyondllcfl.com. To report a vulnerability in our own website, see our security page.
