Licences and activation

A licence is a signed token. Your application verifies it against a public key compiled into the application itself, which means verification needs no network, no account check and no call to us.

What activation does

Activation registers a machine against your licence so seat counts can be enforced and a stolen key can be revoked. It is not what makes the software run.

If our servers are unreachable

Nothing happens. Your application keeps working. Activation heartbeats fail quietly and retry later. After an extended offline period the app will remind you to reconnect, and it will keep functioning while it does.

The software you paid for opens whether or not we are still answering the phone. That is a constraint the licensing system is designed around, not a courtesy.

Seats

A licence carries a seat count. You can see every machine registered against your licence from your account and deactivate one yourself. There is no support ticket to move to a new laptop.

Air-gapped machines

For machines with no network access at all, we issue an offline licence file bound to a machine fingerprint you generate locally. Only a hash leaves the machine; no hardware identifiers are transmitted.
